Here is an update to policies started in May 2020. USGA last updated their guidance on June 24, 2020.
Rules of Golf
- We are hoping there are no issues regarding flagsticks and hole modifications this year.
- Bunkers. Same with bunkers. Hopefully no issues this year. But if bunkers are not maintained we will have a local rule at each course.
Scorekeeping
There will be no scoring table or post round gatherings.
2021 update: OK, There probably will be a scoring table if the 19th hole is open. In that case, just hand in your scorecard. Still, the process of submitting your scorecard by text/email works well and may be needed at times. So we are keeping it available to use as needed. And you still need to attest another player’s score but you don’t have to physically sign.
- Players will text or email a good quality photo of their signed scorecard to the scorekeeper for that event. Front and back nine photos are suggested. Do this before leaving the course. The scorekeeper’s text and email info will be on your scorecard.
- To attest your competitor’s score, send the scorekeeper a text or email reporting his gross score.
- You don’t have to physically sign your competitor’s scorecard if you don’t want to.
- Scores will be posted to USGA for handicapping.
- Questions/disputes can be handled by a phone call to the scorekeeper (if not available) who will resolve it, and will involve the Committee as needed.
Status at All Courses in NJ, PA, DE
2021 update: by now we understand all of this. We expect walking to remain popular in 2021 but we doubt we will be getting walking rates on Saturday mornings like we did in 2020. We don’t know if all courses will have drinking water on the course so don’t forget that and bring a drink.
Solo Carts. Players may need to contact the course directly to find out about riding solo. We will obtain that info when possible so check with us too. Also, we can try to pair you with a walker.
- Masks are required to enter pro shop and buildings. Masks are recommended from the parking lot, and around the clubhouse, until you get onto the course. It’s hard to maintain 6 feet in those areas and it’s also a courtesy to employees who will be required to wear masks at all times. Once on the course you can use some discretion.
- Most courses do not want you showing up early. So do not show up more than 30 minutes before your tee time.
- Leave the course immediately after your round.
- No drinking water. No ball washers. No rakes.
- Be prepared to bring your own water, drinks, and snacks.
- Some pro shops are open to retail purchases, others are not.
